If proof was ever needed that talent runs in the family, look no further than Rotosound’s Jason How. Following in his father James How’s footsteps as both a musician and engineer, Jason has rolled the next generation of string winding machines onto the factory floor, promising a more efficient, greener, and consistent product.
Who better to tell the story of Rotosound’s history of making the machines that make the strings than the man himself…
21-year old Rosie Frater-Taylor’s “Bloom” blurs the lines between jazz, folk, pop and soul. It’s a melting pot of Joni Mitchell, Pat Metheny, Lewis Taylor, and Emily King, with a side helping of John Mayer.
A rising star on the explosive London jazz scene, Isobella Burnham has pulled together the top players on the scene for EP Dancin’ Garuda. Rotosound strings are to be heard exclusively on this record from both Burnham’s bass and Tom Ford’s electric guitar.
The past year has been a strange one for us all – not least for full-time gigging musicians. The pause on live events has changed the rhythm of how often a pro’s instrument is picked up, which got us thinking that our long-life Nexus Acoustic strings might be the perfect choice for guitars that get strummed less often.
With Nexus on our mind, we spoke to one of our Rotosound Players who trusts in our coated strings to keep their tone night-after-night during a busy gigging schedule.
Having beamed fans into their living room over lockdown with a series of livestreams imbued with more genuine live show energy than most, the tight-knit camaraderie that FEET has honed over the past year is there for all to see in new single “Peace and Quiet”. Having recently joined the Rotosound family, we peer into the hive-mind of FEET…
Crows might be Britain’s most dangerous new band – a danger to themselves, at least. Since forming in 2012 after having met at uni, the London-based quartet have racked up the injuries in the name of rock’n’roll, playing on for months through broken bones. Even if they were of the same stadium-headlining stature as Foo Fighters, they’d probably balk at the idea of getting a custom-made throne for their shows and carry on as normal.
For over 14 years, BluesCamp UK’s summer music school teaches blues, rock, and jazz lovers of all ages the skills of playing in a band. Rotosound has had a strong connection with this annual event so it’s great to hear that it’s back this summer…
We are proud to share the good news that we have helped get musical instruments into the hands of young patients at The Beatson Institute in Glasgow. Social enterprise 12Guitars has gifted guitars strung with Rotosound strings and equipment to The Teenage Cancer Trust ward to assist in their music therapy activities.
We chat with recent Rotosound Player and Rock ‘n Roll torchbearer Kim Logan about collecting vintage gear, recording her second LP “Shadow Work” and why the COVID-19 pandemic has caused her to be more experimental.
Rotosound players Rainbreakers release their striking new single ‘Ashes’, taken from the band’s forthcoming new album to be released this year. The Midlands-based, four-piece band, brimming with creativity, talent, not to mention’s Charlie’s award-nominated guitar mastery — have been consistently pleasing ears and firing up fans’ hearts and minds during their remarkable rise over recent years.
